HoverAid Harvest
Our Harvest Charity this year is HoverAid. HoverAid work in Madagascar, taking medical and emergency relief to people who get cut off from the rest of the world by the extreme weather that hits the island mercilessly year by year.
Over 92% of people on Madagascar live below the poverty line, and many of them are unreachable by road for much of the time. HoverAid use river systems to find communities and serve them with food, clean water and medical help.
All three churches will collect for HoverAid at their Harvest Festival Services on September 30th.
In addition, our Rector, Revd Marcus Green, was contacted by HoverAid and asked if he would take part in a special fundraiser the Saturday after our Harvest services, October 6th. On that day HoverAid have asked 35 people to abseil down the ArcellorMittal Orbit in the Olympic Park, London, in order to raise funds and to publicise their work.
Please sponsor Marcus! The easiest way to do so is simply to go to: wonderful.org where you can sponsor Marcus and gift aid your donation. Or, add your name and phone number to the list in any of our churches and please do give promptly after he has done his leap of faith!
And do enjoy all our Harvest events - the Harvest Supper at Steeple, with comedian Ian Macdonald at 7pm on Sep 29th, the Harvest lunch at North Aston at 1pm on Sep 30th, and the Harvest Auction at Tackley following the evening service. Let's have a really generous and grateful time together this Harvest!
