United Villages Service

At the end of May, members of all three of our churches gathered alongside some from Tackley Methodists to worship in the open air in Tackley. We gathered to thank God for all his gifts to us, and to pray for each of our villages - for our homes, schools, places of work and joy, for each other and for all that makes up village life. We sang and prayed, and Rector Marcus Green reminded us of words from Luke's Gospel where the centurion says - "only say the word and I shall be healed". God is loving and kind, and as we celebrate his gifts we must trust him for all our needs. Christian Aid

Early in May we were fortunate to be visited by Paul Valentin, International Director of Christian Aid. He spoke at two of our Benefice Churches, and told us of the amazing work Christian Aid does across the globe. Focussing on families in Bangladesh, he helped us appreciate that even a little help from us can make a tremendous difference to people we will never know. His heartfelt appeal was greatly appreciated by everyone in the parishes, and brought home to us the global connections which aren't simply a matter of items on the news but the truth of our common humanity.
